On Drug Addiction
Addiction to drugs is one thing that I hope and pray my daughter would not get into when she gets older. I had a cousin who was addicted to drugs. He had a very troubled youth. His parents had gotten separated when he was young and he was left with our grandfather. His parents were just there but they could not take care of him. They both have their own families to take care. Maybe that was the reason why he turned to drugs because he could not turn to anybody else. When he was little, I remember my parents wanted to adopt him and take care of him like their own. But our grandfather wanted to take care of him himself. My cousin, Rommel, you see was the first grandson.
Anywas, I know he went thru rehabilitation but he always went back to drugs. I know he went thru Rapid Detox. Maybe it’s his friends. Maybe it’s him. Maybe it’s a habit that he could not get rid of anymore. Maybe his escape was much better than reality. Anyways, to cut the long story short, he died at a very young age. He did not reach the age of 30.
My cousin Rommel is actually a lesson for all of us in the family. I hope that nothing like that will ever happen again to anybody in our family. And I hope that it won’t happen to your family too.
