Good Job!
Just had a long talk with my sister-in-law M about parenting and how hard it is to become a mom. I think we spent around 2 hours (from 11 pm to 1 am). It was a good and fruitful talk and one that all parents need from time to time. We all need to breathe it out a little. We need to talk about the rewards and the hardship of it all. We need to reaffirm to ourselves that we are still on the right track. Let us face it, we cannot please everybody especially when it comes to parenting. Grandparents and titas will always be there to defend the kids and it may seem that they are judging but I don’t think that they are. They know it will always be up to the parents to discipline them. So they will talk and it is ok because they do not really understand what’s going on inside the household. How the house looks does not really reflect how great your relationship is with your child. So even the ones who have the best looking copper kitchen sinks can have a rusty relationship with their kids and vice versa. Of course, it does not hurt to have a great looking and functional household to watch over.
Anyways, we talked about how we only have good intentions for our kids. Well, the other members of the family also have good intentions for them too. Bear in mind that you still have a great kid just as I have a great kid too. We are in different stages of mommyhood but we can empathize with each other especially when it comes to the most sad to the happiest moments.
So let us pat ourselves in the back because I think, so far, we have done a good job in raising our kids. We need to pat ourselves every once in a while (and reward ourselves too). Tee hee!
